#CiviOneClick Project - Update No. 2

Hello supporters,

before everybody leaves on the Easter holiday, we thought it would be time for a short update on the CiviOneClick project from Software für Engagierte e. V. (SfE), which is funded by the German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering (“Deutschen Stiftung für Engagement und Ehrenamt“) in the transform_d programme.

A lot has happened these days and we are very happy about the progress the project is making – thanks also to the international community.

Enjoy the reading and most of all: have great and hopefully relaxing holidays and lots of fun searching for Easter eggs. :-)

Your SfE-team Andreas, Bene, Detlev and Theresa

Same project - new name

As it has been realised, the name „CiviClick“ is already taken by another initiative. Therefore the project got a new name. Thanks to everybody who sent suggestions and participated in the vote in the Mattermost Group. And the WINNER is..... CiviOneClick !!! The new name is similar to the old one and will therefore still be recognized, but puts more emphasis on the vision of the project of creating a CiviCRM demo site and installation which can be established with the least amount of clicks possible.

Great news!

After many many calls with the international community, we are very happy to announce the news, that we will get amazing support for the project from Third Sector Design, Skvare and the Core Team. And of course from so many other people, who are helping with their input! Thanks a lot to all of you!

Third Sector Design offered to create a Docker image that will be used for the CiviOneClick project and also become the official CiviCRM Docker image. Therefore it will benefit the whole CiviCRM community. So they will try to reach two goals at once. :-)

Skvare will take care of the orchestration and create a setup based on Kubernetes or a similar orchestration tool which will allow the scalability of the software.

And last but not least we are very happy that the Core Team will integrate the future Docker image in their deployment for the regular release cycle. Furthermore, the Core Team will incorporate requirements for better SaaS support of CiviCRM (e.g. use of environment variables instead of hard-coded civicrm.settings.php).

If you want to be involved in the next steps of the project in supporting Third Sector Design to create a Docker image, feel free to contribute to the discussions of the issues in the Lab.
